In 2017 I had the opportunity to present and produce content for Leeds Hack’s news, which was broadcast online and in Millenium Square Leeds.
This was a piece that didn’t look like it would happen but came together in the final hours. I researched, arranged interviews, filmed, directed and edited this package which is presented by Emily Kelly, all on the same day as presenting our first live broadcast. As a result of my hard work on this and the other five shows produced, I was awarded the highest mark in my cohort on one of the most demanding modules of our course.
This package was a chance for me to prove myself by working alone, rather than in pairs. The story of the Corn exchange changing hands had been lingering around the newsroom for a while, so I was determined to get an interview with the new owners to hear what they had to say. Research, videography, reporting and editing by myself.
Once again working alone, this item was originally intended to be a package. Due to time constraints, I was asked to turn it into a ‘ULAY SOT’, with a segment which underlays the studio presenters followed by an interview. Research, videography and editing by myself.
While preparing to present in the studio, a breaking story came in. I filmed and edited this ULAY to run underneath as we presented from the studio.
A cheerful Christmas story, this ULAY SOT was researched and filmed by myself, with shared reporting and editing with my colleague Emily Kelly.
